摘要 PURPOSE: A thermal transmission and sound matching layer for a supersonic wave transducer is provided to improve image quality and signal quality by using a transducer at an increased power level. CONSTITUTION: A piezoelectric element(910) defines a front side(912) and a back side(914). The piezoelectric element converts an electric signal into a supersonic wave to be transmitted to a target and converts the received supersonic wave into the electric signal. A lens(908) is connected to the front side of the piezoelectric element. A heat sink(924) is connected to the back side of the piezoelectric element. A back side matching layer(920) is placed between the piezoelectric element and the heat sink. The back side matching layer is thermally connected to the piezoelectric element and the heat sink and delivers heat from the piezoelectric element to the heat sink.
