PURPOSE: A power off control device of a portable terminal including a battery and an auxiliary power unit and a method thereof are provided to prevent data loss when sudden power is turned off. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit(24) supplies power of a battery. The power supply unit includes an auxiliary power unit. When the separation of the battery from the power supply unit is sensed, a battery separation sensing unit(26) outputs a battery separation signal to an input unit(21) by using power of the auxiliary power unit. When the battery separation signal is received from the battery separation sensing unit, the input unit generates a power-off event by using the power of the auxiliary power unit. When the power-off event is generated from the input unit, a control unit(27) performs a power-off process by using the power of the auxiliary power unit.
