A method for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment with pravastatin of patients with coronary heart disease with angina pectoris and hypertension comprises the comparison of patients before and after treatment. Before treatment with pravastatin in patients at rest, 5 ml of blood is collected from the cubital vein and the properties of liquid blood are determined by measuring the viscosity of blood on a rotary viscometer at different shear stresses from 0.020 dyn/cmto 8.8 dyn/cm. After treatment with pravastatin the sampling of 5 ml of blood is performed from the cubital vein and similar study is performed. If blood viscosity at shear stress of 0.3 dyn/cmdecreases on 7.3% compared to the tension before treatment, the hemorheological results and antianginal effects are assessed as positive
