A method of providing a member with insulation against sound and heat comprises charging a non-woven fibrous web 3, e.g. felt, with two resins having different fusion temperatures, heating the said web to cause fusion of one of said resins, bonding a cold shapable layer 2, e.g. of impregnated cardboard or sheet aluminium or sheet lead to one surface of said web, applying a surface coating layer 1 of bituminous material to the cold shapable layer, bonding a layer 4 of felt charged with a vinyl resin to the other surface of said web to form a multi-layer insulation sheet and heating the resultant multi-layer insulation sheet with said bituminous material in contact with the said member so as to set and bond the multi-layer insulation sheet to said member. The insulation sheet may be pre-shaped by press moulding prior to placing it in contact with said member.</p> |
