<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of sound absorbing performance caused as a sound insulation material absorbs water. <P>SOLUTION: An outdoor unit 10 includes a compressor 22 for compressing a refrigerant in a refrigerant circuit, a sound insulating material 3A containing a sound absorbing material 41 having a water-absorbing property to cover a side surface of the compressor 22, and a bottom plate 17a on which the compressor 22 is installed. The bottom plate 17a has a sound insulating material placing part 61 on which the sound insulating material 3A is placed and a surrounding part 62 located around the sound insulating material placing part 61 and formed integrally with the sound insulating material placing part 61.
