Disclosed herein is 10-alpha/beta-D-Arabinofuranosylundecenes of general Formula (II) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as anti-mycobacterial agents in vitro; (II) wherein R, R1 and R" are as defined herein in the specification. The present invention also discloses a simple stereoselective synthesis 10-alpha/beta-D-Arabinofuranosylundecenes of Formula (II) to target enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of cell wall of Mycobacterium and thus useful as inhibitors in the Mycobacterium tuberculosis drug development.
