<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell system capable of operating stably for a long period despite a possible certain degree of variation in the capacities of cells that constitute the cell system. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is applicable to a cell system comprising a plurality of cells connected in series. The number of cells in the plurality of cells is a number M pieces that are minimally required to operate the cell system plus a number m<SB POS="POST">R</SB>piece(s) as a redundant cell(s).
