<p>Improved method for: (I) where Y=H, hal, CF3, or Me, R1 and R2 = H or together form a double bond, and A = dialkylamino-alkylidene or N-alkylpiperilydene and acid addn. and quat. salts of (I). 1-Dimethylamino-3-chloropropane (47.5 g.) in Et2O (95 ml.) was added to Mg (9.5 g.) and Et2O (40 ml.), followed by dibenzocycloheptene-5-one (40.9 g.) in Et2O (120 ml.), stirred several hrs. at 45-50 deg., added c. HCl (90 ml.) dropwise and distilled off Et2O (150-180 ml.). The mixture was heated at 90-110 deg., cooled, basified (NH4OH) to pH9, extd. with C2H4Cl2 (2 X 150 ml.), sepd., dried, and evapd., giving (I) (54 g.), b.p. 168-172 deg./0.6 mm., Hydrochloride m.p. 201-2 deg.</p> |
