<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing component which prevents a vehicle from coming in contact with a sound absorbing body so as to improve running safety. <P>SOLUTION: A sound absorbing component 10 installed at the top of a sound-insulating wall erected in the direction of travel along a road is provided with a sound absorber 13 lying between a perforated plate 11 covering the outer surface and an inner face plate 12 constituting the inside face and a sound absorbing body 14 which has an approximately U-shaped cross section. The sound absorbing body 14 is arranged such that the top of the sound-insulating wall is held by both of the ends of the approximately U-shaped cross section, having a first side wall 16a facing the road side and a second side wall 16b facing the outside which are raised upward from both of the ends, respectively, and a top head part 17 having an approximately arc shaped cross section. The first side wall 16a extends in approximately vertical direction.
