Thermoplastic foils are heat formed by placing them near an electrically conducting membrane which is heated by an electrical current to at least the foil forming temperature, pressing both the membrane and foil against and conforming them to the moulding surface, then cooling down and removing the membrane and thermoplastic foil from the said surface. Heat forming thermoplastic foils, especially open-mesh types, in conjunction with an air-impermeable topping, electrically conducting and repeatedly usable heating membrane.
|
