A pneumatic tyre tread has one or more circumferentially zig-zag or undulating grooves 1 each comprising a series of limbs 3, each limb having at each end thereof a junction 8, and a non-linear wall 5 formed from two mutually inclined faces 5a, 5b, so that the width of the mouth of the groove or grooves is wider adjacent the junctions 8 than intermediate the junctions. The faces 5a, 5b are of unequal length and have an included angle of 170 degrees. The increase in said width is between 10 and 25%. The crosssection of the grooves is of V-form. A narrow transverse slot 7 extends from each junction 8. |
