The holder (1) has a carrier (5) for a banner (2) or a signboard (3), and a fastening element (6) attached to a vertical post section (7). The carrier is designed in a switching manner under forces that act horizontally at an outer side of a post axis (8). A joint (10) is arranged between the carrier and the element, and has stationary and movable joint parts (11, 12). The carrier is fastened to the movable part. The joint has a spring (21) i.e. torsion spring, and the carrier has an end projecting over a joint axis (19), where the spring is arranged between the end and stationary part.
