<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation generating apparatus which enables shielding of unnecessary radiation rays and cooling of a target and achieves the weight reduction with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A radiation generating apparatus includes: a package 1 having a first window 2 transmitting radiation rays; a radiation tube 10 which is housed in the package 1 and has a second window 15 transmitting the radiation rays at a position corresponding to the first window 2; and a radiation shield member 16 which has a radiation passing hole 21 communicating with the second window 15 and protruding from the second window 15 toward the first window 2 side.
