A telescopic cover for a shaft 2 comprises a plurality of cover elements 1, 1<SP>1</SP> 1<SP>11</SP> each of which is divided in the longitudinal direction and has a polygonal cross-section. Each cover element comprises two parts 1a 1b which are coupled together by coupling-pieces 3, 4 and bolts 6. The cross-section is preferably octagonal and brass slides 7 are mounted on alternate sides internally of one end of the cover element. An elastic sealing lip 8 extends around the internal periphery at the other end of the element. Alternatively, the parts of each cover element may be coupled together by a bayonet-type joint. |
