<p>The invention describes an apparatus for purifying contaminated plastic containers, in particular oil cans, comprising a comminuting device (8) for comminuting the plastic containers into cuttings, a cleaning device for cleaning the cuttings using a cleaning fluid which preferably contains water, and a drying device (28) for drying the cuttings. The essential characteristic of the invention is that the cleaning device has a reservoir (38) for collecting used cleaning fluid (40), at least one skimming means (44) for removing pollutants (42), which in particular comprise hydrocarbon-containing substances, such as oils, from the cleaning fluid (40), and a removal means (50) for removing the purified cleaning fluid (40) from the reservoir (38) for re-use. The invention further describes a method for purifying polluted plastic containers, in particular oil cans, by means of the apparatus described above.</p> |
