A valve, particularly for mixing hot and cold water, comprises a socket in which is positioned a ball 2 having a depression 3 in its surface, a flexible membrane 4 between the socket and the ball, and two inlet ports C.F. and one outlet port D opening into the socket so that the depression may be positioned to allow the membrane to be deflected by fluid flow between the ports. A rustproof spring 10 helps the lifting of the membrane which may be of rubber and have a flat lower face while a lid 6 and screwed flange 7 hold the ball in position. A lever 8 for rotating the ball co-operates with red and blue zones on the lid 6 to show the proportion of hot to cold water entering the valve. The inlet and outlet ports may be rectangular instead of circular and have raised edges to improve sealing with the membrane while the depression 3 may be circular, triangular or polygonal.</p> |
