In a center pillar (13) provided as a vehicle body member, a pillar reinforcement (20) extending in a longitudinal direction has ridgelines (23) such that a curvature of the ridgelines (23) corresponding to a portion at which a bending moment from a load inputted to a body (2) is maximal is greater than curvatures of the ridgelines (23) corresponding to other portions. As a result, this allows increasing buckling strength of the center pillar (13), and also allows increasing more reliably strength at portions that must have substantial strength since the bending moment is greatest there. Accordingly, desired strength toward inputted loads can be secured by simply imparting curvature by curving the pillar reinforcement (20), without providing any new reinforcement member in the center pillar (13). The strength of the center pillar (13) can be enhanced as a result without an increase in reinforcement members.
|
