An optical fiber or cable storage module (70) includes a back wall (86), and a number of resilient mounting fingers (84) extending from the back wall (86) interiorly of the module (70), a fiber supply spool (18) having an axial bore with an inner circumference dimensioned and formed to (a) receive the free ends of the mounting fingers (84) when the spool (18) is centered over the fingers, and (b) engage the mounting fingers when the spool is urged toward the back wall (86) so that the spool (18) is restrained from axial movement, and the spool includes a hub, and a first winding section for containing a length of fiber sufficient to route between a service terminal located outside a user premises, and a location in the vicinity of a user terminal placed inside the premises, and a fiber optic connector adapter (72) supported in the vicinity of the spool (18) when the spool is engaged by the mounting fingers (84), wherein a proximal end (80) of the adapter (72) is configured to connect with a mating connector on the length of fiber contained on the spool. The mounting fingers (84) have corresponding catches (84a) formed near free ends of the fingers, and the inner circumference of the axial bore in the supply spool (18) has an annular groove (52) dimensioned and formed to seat the catches for restraining the spool from axial movement.
