An electrochemical cell is disclosed. The cell includes an anode comprising lithium, a cathode coating comprising iron disulfide and an anode interfacial input capacity divided by a cathode interfacial input capacity that is less than or equal to 1Ø The anode interfacial input capacity is calculated on a theoretical basis taking into account the energy density of lithium, interfacial width of the electrodes and the density and thickness of the lithium, while the cathode interfacial input capacity takes into account the cathode dry mix density, interfacial width of the electrodes, packing percentage and thickness of the cathode coating and the energy density, dry weight percent and percent purity of the iron disulfide. This calculation is made upon a per linear inch basis. |
