<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the inclination of a document for a reading section from an image read in the reading section. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 1 reads the image of a reading range including a document image range where a document G is read in the main scanning direction, and detects a plurality of edge points P on one side of the document image range in a direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction. A difference value ΔY indicating variation in the positions of edge points in that direction is then calculated and compared with a reference interval K (S76). When the difference value ΔY is larger than the reference interval K, the image reading apparatus 1 sets parameters for detecting the edge points on a side different from the side detected previously (S86), detects the edge points on that side and calculates the difference value ΔY for that side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
