A base station and wireless communication method are provided capable of correctly causing a mobile station to receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and a physical downlink shared channel, when a mobile station that supports enhancement of the PDCCH and a mobile station that does not support enhancement of the PDCCH are mixed. A base station (100) is provided with a scheduling processor (109) for scheduling a plurality of mobile stations on the PDCCH, and a UE type assessment unit (107) for assessing whether the plurality of mobile stations are the "OLD UE" type supporting only CFI=1-3, or the "NEW UE" type supporting CFI=1-4. The scheduling processor (109) performs scheduling of the OLD UE on the PDCCH using any of CFI=1-3 in a first subframe, and performs scheduling of the NEW UE on the PDCCH using any of CFI=1-4 in a second subframe that is different from the first subframe.
