<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document pressing plate opening/closing device in which bending prevention means in a document pressing plate is arranged in a support member so as not to protrude therefrom, and to provide an office machine using the document pressing plate opening/closing device. <P>SOLUTION: A document pressing plate opening/closing device comprises: an attachment member to be attached to a device body side; a support member whose both end plates are rotatably coupled to both end plates of the attachment member through hinge pins; a lift member which is pivotably attached to free ends of both side plates of the support member through coupling pins to be rotatable in a different direction to the rotational direction of the support member and to which a document pressing plate is attached; an operation member provided at a position which is pivotable around the coupling pins of the lift member; a pressure-receiving member pivotably supported between both side plates on the attachment member side; and a cam slider and a spring-receiving member slidably provided inside the support member while elastic means being functioned between the pressure-receiving member and the operation member.
