The component (7) has a cladding (9) made of a light metal i.e. aluminum, or a light metal alloy i.e. aluminum alloy, and a core (11) made of steel, where the cladding is made from a hollow section (1) and the core is made of a steel element (5). The core is extended in a direction along an expansion of the cladding and/or protrudes from an outer surface of the cladding, where the core is completely surrounded by the light metal alloy or light metal. The core comprises a corrosion protection layer i.e. zinc coating layer, that faces a surface of the cladding. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a component for a motor car shell structure.
