<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a condensed polycyclic aromatic compound thin film which can be manufactured by a solution process, having orientation of condensed polycyclic aromatic compound molecules controlled in a desired direction, and having thickness around several hundred nm, and also to provide manufacturing method of the condensed polycyclic aromatic compound thin film. <P>SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of a condensed polycyclic aromatic compound thin film, mixture solution of a condensed polycyclic aromatic compound and an organic compound dissolving the condensed polycyclic aromatic compound, is used, the mixture solution is applied to a substrate, and the organic compound is removed from the applied mixture solution. In the manufacturing method, the organic compound dissolving the condensed polycyclic aromatic compound is one kind or two or more kinds of carboxylic compounds.
