The battery tray has a battery guard cage (10) that receives a traction battery. A holding unit fastens the battery guard cage at a main structure (1). A guide unit (20) enables a movement of the battery guard cage along a movement axis (3). The guide unit is executed as rail system, to enable displacement of the battery guard cage from an installation position to an end position. The assembly and disassembly of the traction battery are enabled in installation position of the battery guard cage, and the battery guard cage is fixed at the main structure in end position. An independent claim is included for method for assembling and disassembling traction battery.
