[Also in Division C5] In an oxo process a carbonaceous by-product and/or a waste product of the process is reacted with water vapour and CO 2 over a nickel catalyst at a temperature in the range 600‹ to 900‹ C. to produce a gas mixture containing H 2 and CO for oxo synthesis. By-products and waste products referred to include isoaldehydes and distillation residues obtained by working up hydroformylation products, e.g. higher alcohols, acetals, aldols and esters, specifically isobutyraldehyde and the residues from the hydroformylation of propylene and ethylene. |
