<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device for securely detecting an end-of-life of respective fluorescent lamps while preventing a cataphoresis phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device includes an inverter circuit 52 which converts a DC voltage output from a power supply part 51 into a high frequency AC voltage, and collectively lights the serially connected fluorescent lamps 13, 14. End-of-life detection circuits 56, 57 for detecting half-wave discharge currents of the fluorescent lamps 13, 14 in ends of life are arranged on the fluorescent lamps 13, 14 from an output side of the power supply part 51. The half-wave discharge current is detected by the end-of-life detection circuits 56, 57 for each of the fluorescent lamps 13, 14 without superimposing the DC voltage on an output of the inverter circuit 52. Thus, the end-of-life of the respective fluorescent lamps 13, 14 is securely detected while suppressing the cataphoresis phenomenon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
