Cracking with water vapour and coking of hydrocarbons by a combined procedure comprises (1) contacting naphtha or gas-oil with water vapour at 500-1200 degrees C (pref. 600-900 degrees C and esp. 800-850 degrees C), (2) separating the effluent from the cracking process into at least a gas phase an intermediate petrol phase and a heavy phase. (3) Polymerising part of the heavy phase (i.e. the diolefinic bonds therein) so that its viscosity at 50 degrees C increases by is not 10%. (4) Extracting a portion boiling between 250-450 degrees C (pref. 350-400 degrees C) under atmos. pressure or at 154-321 degrees C (Pref. 238-277 degrees C)under 40 mm Hg pressure and (5) coking the product from 4 to give coke, light gases and gasoline type hydrocarbons.
|
