<p>(A) Spiro tetralin succinimide cpds. are of general formula (I) where R1=H, halogen, lower alkyl, OH or lower alkoxy R2 and R3=H, lower alkyl, OH or lower alkoxy R4=bivalent saturated hydrocarbon radical containing 6-carbon atoms Am= is where R5=H or lower alkyl R6=H, OH or lower alkoxy m is 1,2,3 or 4 when R6=H or m is 2,3 or 4 when R6=OH or lower alkoxy. (B) Acid addition salts of (I). Local anaesthetics. Equimolecular amounts of the anhydride of 1-carboxy-tetrahydronaphthylacetic acid (prepared by refluxing the acid for 1 hr. in tetrachloroethane under a water separator) and diethylaminopropylamine were mixed and heated for 1 hr. at 160 deg. After cooling the product was dissolved in dil. HCl, the soln. washed with ether and then made alkaline with dil. NaOH. The ppte. was taken up in ether, dried and converted to its hydrochloride m.p. 175-177 deg. (from dioxan) Yield 62%.</p> |
