摘要 An apparatus for controlling cooling of a piston for an internal combustion engine is provided to remarkably reduce the capacity of an oil pump and increase the fuel efficiency of an engine by detecting the behavior and temperature of the piston using electromagnetic induction, and variably controlling the discharge rate of oil through a cooling jet depending on the data on the behavior and temperature of the piston. An apparatus for controlling cooling of a piston for an internal combustion engine includes a temperature sensor(12), a first induction coil(13), a second induction coil(16), a rectifier circuit(20), a smoothing circuit(30), a comparator(40), and a control unit(50). The temperature sensor is mounted on the upper portion of the piston(11) to measure the temperature of the piston. The first induction coil is mounted on the lower portion of the piston, and is electrically connected to the temperature sensor. The second induction coil is provided at a predetermined position under a cylinder(10) having a water jacket(14), with first and second coils wound around the second induction coil by a preset number of turns. The rectifier circuit rectifiers an electromagnetic waveform induced from the second induction coil by the reciprocating motion of the piston, thus converting it into DC voltage. The smoothing circuit averages the rectified waveform to convert it into a signal of a square wave. The comparator compares the signal of square wave with a preset reference voltage, thus transmitting the compared result to the control unit. The control unit analyzes the signal transmitted from the comparator to detect the temperature and position of the piston, and controls the operation of an oil pump(90), thus controlling the discharge rate and discharge time of oil through a cooling jet.
