PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF PHOTOACTIVE NANOCRYSTALLINE TITANIUM DIOXIDE

The invention relates to processes for the preparation of photoactive nanocrystalline titanium dioxide for the use as photocatalyst, light-sensitive materials and for making of highly sensitive sensors. The process for the preparation of TiClby means of hydrolysis in aqueous medium at temperature of 70-100 °C for 1-24 hours, cooling of mixture, separation of sediment, drying to constant weight and calcinations at temperature of 400 °C. The hydrolysis of TiClis carried out in aqueous medium in the presence of finely dispersed silicon dioxide in ratio of titanium dioxide/ silicon dioxide from 25/75 to 90/10 weight %. The invention provides the preparation of nanocrystalline titanium dioxide with improved photoactivity.
