PURPOSE: An image photographing device and a control method thereof are provided to recognize a 3D effect before photographing by displaying information about a depth map of a subject and a preview image in a 3D photographing mode. CONSTITUTION: When a user selects a 3D photographing mode through an input unit, a control unit generates preview image data by controlling an image processing unit(300,310). A depth map generating unit generates a depth map by using the preview image data. The image processing unit generates a color processing and depth gauge graph by using depth map information(320). The image processing unit displays the depth map information through a display unit in parallel with the preview image data(330).
