Disclosed are a multi-user network card short message identification method and device, the method comprising the steps of: receiving and storing a short message; obtaining the target host name of the short message and the host name of a connected user; comparing the host name of the connected user with the target host name, and judging whether the host name of the connected user matches the target host name; if the host name of the connected user matches the target host name, then sending the short message to the matched connected user. The present invention identifies target users, avoids sending a private short message to all connected users, thus effectively protecting user privacy when the network card is connected with a plurality of users simultaneously.
