摘要 The invention relates to lifting devices and, in particular, to continuous passenger conveyance. The escalator has a central vertical column, guide tracks which run spirally along the vertical length of the column, steps which are provided with rollers adjacent to the guide tracks, and a drive member which connects the steps to one another. The central vertical column is equipped on the outside thereof with at least one horizontal guide rail. The guide tracks are fastened to a bearing frame which is equipped with additional rollers that are adjacent to the guide rail. The bearing frame is mobile, being able to rotate about the axis of the stationary central vertical column, and is provided with a drive mechanism that enables the rotating movement of the bearing frame in the opposite direction to the movement of the steps along the guide tracks and at a speed equal to the horizontal component of the speed of movement of the steps. Entrance platforms, situated in proximity to the upper and lower bend portions, are secured to the bearing frame, and balustrades with handhold devices are also secured thereto, wherein the handrails move relative to the bearing frame in the same direction as the steps. Landings are situated around the mobile balustrade. The mobile entrance platforms are equipped with handrails, and the bearing frame is provided with landing barriers save for in the locations of the horizontal portions of the guide tracks and the mobile entrance platforms. The escalator makes it possible to increase the safety of human transportation by extending the points of entry to and exit from the escalator by means of the rotation of the entrance platforms around the circumference of the radially inner sides of the landings.
