<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mean for treating dysfunctional uterine bleeding to reduce the amount of bleeding, to prevent the recurrence of dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and at the same time, to provide a reliable and sufficiently-tolerated oral contraceptive. <P>SOLUTION: The combination of estradiol valerate or estradiol with dienogest includes: a first phase consisting of 2 daily dose units of 3 mg of estradiol valerate or ≤3 mg of estradiol; a second phase consisting of 2 groups of daily dose units wherein a first group contains 5 daily dose units of a combination of 2 mg of estradiol valerate or ≤2 mg of estradiol with 2 mg of dienogest and a second group contains 17 daily dose units consisting of a combination of 2 mg of estradiol valerate or ≤2 mg of estradiol with 3 mg of dienogest; a third phase consisting of 2 daily dose units of 1 mg of estradiol valerate or ≤1 mg of estradiol; and an additional phase consisting of 2 daily dose units of a pharmaceutically harmless placebo. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
