Double acting forming machine

Method is for forming small cylinders e.g. bearing runners, by a double acting punch. Bar of material e.g. steel is fed into opening of mobile knife, which also holds small forming punch be lind. Downward, movement of knife is synchronised with horizontal movement of main punch and slide, such that first short stroke performs material in die. After removal of knife second longer forward movement of main punch finalises shape. Method is particularly adaptable to semi-continuous feeding of bar stock, and fast production rates.
