Process for the calculation and simulation of a peripheral mounting rib on the edge of a spectacle lens and bevelling process

The method involves obtaining a part of initial displacement setpoint to form a portion of an engaging rib to be arranged on an edge of an ophthalmic lens. Two approximation values (Sii, Sij) of geometry of a part of a chosen cross section of the rib are determined. Intersections between a beveling grindstone and the lens are determined when the beveling grindstone is situated in first and second positions of the setpoint, respectively. Intersection between the two approximation values is determined to determine simulated geometry (Si) of the cross section of the rib. An independent claim is also included for a method for beveling an ophthalmic lens for arranging an engaging rib on an edge of the lens.
