摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize drop in image quality when an image is outputted by putting together the images, which are read out by a double-sided reader using sensors of different characteristics for reading the front and back surfaces of an original document, on one screen. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a putting together copy of double-sided reading images is designated, a front/back side processing decision unit 18 decides processing conditions applied to the putting together image in an image data processor (1)2 and an image data processor (2)4 of poststage based on the front and back reading images which are read out, respectively, by a first reader (CCD)1 and a second reader (CIS)17. The front/back side processing decision unit 18 decides which of the front or back side processing conditions is superior in applicability by comparing the front surface group and the back surface group constituting the intensive image with respect to the types of images (color/monochrome, character mode, character size and the like).
