<p>Plastic articles to be plated are provided at least in surface area with a metal filler, surface-treated to expose individual filler particles so that they protrude slightly over the plastic surface area; and metal layer is deposited on plastic article surface by known plating methods. Filler is pref. introduced while moulding plastic articles, and consists of ferromagnetic materials, such as Fe filings, stainless steel fibres or ferromagnetic alloy particles. Pref. steel particles introduced during moulding have 5.10-2.5.10-2.3 cu.mm. size. Chemical plating is pref. used using Co or Ni, and pref. activating article before plating with a catalytic agent, such as SnCl2, PdCl3 or colloidal Pd. Plated metal layer is pref. thickened by subsequently electroplating.</p> |
