PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting water of a water cooling type electric power storage module are provided to quickly detect moisture penetration due to the leakage of a lower water cooling plate. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting water of a water cooling type electric power storage module comprises a moisture sensor(140) which detects moisture in an energy storage module, and generates moisture detecting signals; a signal collection part(310) which collects the moisture detecting signals; and a control part which analyzes the moisture detecting signals, calculates the amount of the detected moisture, and determines the moisture penetration into the energy storage module by comparing the amount of calculated moisture and predetermined moisture.
