PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a deep freezer having a tray to automatically evaporate defrost water are provided to prevent the degradation of refrigerating and freezing efficiency and to reduce electricity consumption. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator and a deep freezer comprise an evaporator, an upper defrost water tray, a defrost water discharge pipe(200), a lower defrost water tray(320), a compressor, and a condenser(330). The evaporator is positioned in the upper part of the refrigerator and the deep freezer, and evaporates a refrigerant to generate cold air. The upper defrost water tray has a space for receiving defrost water generated by the evaporator. One side of the defrost water discharge pipe is connected to the upper defrost water tray to communicate with the receiving space of the upper defrost water tray. The other side of the defrost water discharge pipe is extended along the rear wall of the refrigerant and the deep freezer in order to let the defrost water received in the upper defrost water tray flow down. The lower defrost water tray receives the defrost water flowing down along the discharge pipe. The compressor is installed inside the lower defrost water tray, and compresses the refrigerant collected from the evaporator to high-temperature and high-pressure gas.
