1,205,066. Thermoplastic polyester moulding compositions. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 29 Aug., 1968 [30 Aug., 1967], No. 41353/68. Heading C3R. A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises a mixture of (a) a linear saturated polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a dihydric alcohol and (b) from 0.05 to 25% by weight of the mixture of a copolymer of an alkyl ester of acrylic, methacrylic or ethacrylic acid and a conjugated aliphatic diene. The copolymer preferably has a molecular weight of at least 5000 and may be a random, block or graft copolymer. The composition may also contain a nucleating agent, e.g. aluminium silicate of particle size less than 2Á, calcium carbonate or talc. The granulated composition may be coated with paraffin wax or other wax. Specified polyesters are polyethylene terephthalate which may be modified by 2:6- naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, adipic acid, 1: 4- butanediol or neopentylene glycol and poly- (1: 4 - dimethylolcyclohexane) - terephthalate. The ingredients (a) and (b) may be mixed together in powder or molten form. Examples disclose compositions of polyethylene terephthalate and copolymers of butyl acrylate and butadiene. |
