A windscreen wiper installation has a wiper arm 19 oscillated about a spindle 20 by a motor 10 (Fig. 3, not shown) via a crank 35, articulated directly to the wiper arm 19, or to a part carrying the wiper arm 19, at a pivot joint 33 spaced from the spindle 20, which is mounted on the free end of a rocker arm 21 movable by the crank 35 so that the spindle 20 is moved back and forth along an arc of a circle having the fulcrum 24 of the rocker 21 as centre. Two wiper arms 14, 19 may be coupled together by linkage, as shown. In an alternative embodiment the pivot joint between the crank and the wiper arm is guided in a heart-shaped groove. In both embodiments the path of a wiper blade when moving in one direction differs from its path when moving in the opposite direction. |
