<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector having an engaging member which can engage stably with a mating plug connector. <P>SOLUTION: The electric connector with a regulatory space into which a mating plug connector is inserted comprises: an insulating body having a housing hole for housing the mating plug connector; a plurality of terminal grooves and an abutment wall; a plurality of contact terminals being attached to the terminal grooves of the insulating body; and an elastic engagement member being attached to insulating body. The engagement member has an engaging part located in the regulatory space, and an abutment part corresponding to the abutment wall. The abutment part and the engaging part are located on the different surfaces.
