<p>The method involves fragmenting a biometric image e.g. iris image, face image or fingerprint, into a set of indexed blocks, and creating a block index (50) that allows reconstruction of the image from the blocks and the index, using a deduplication algorithm. A link between a name of an individual and the image is created (56), and stored (58) in a first database (18). The name is stored in a second database (14). The blocks are stored in a third database (16) for storing the image in the database, where the databases are independent from one another and controlled by corresponding servers.
