<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston valve device and a driving method of the piston valve device, superior in construction and maintainability, and superior in low cost and control responsiveness, by dispensing with a long air pipe up to a cylinder cover from a solenoid valve for piston reciprocating control, in the piston valve device for controlling a flow of fluid in the pipe by using compressed air. <P>SOLUTION: This piston valve device includes a piston casing for connecting an opening part end surface of a yoke 50 connected to a valve body 40 and an opening part end surface of the cylinder cover 60 for forming an inner peripheral surface on a piston sliding surface, a piston 10 fitted to the piston sliding surface is connected with a stem 20 reciprocatably supported in the axial direction in the yoke and having a valve element 30 on its tip, and operation of the valve element is performed by reciprocating motion of the stem by the piston driven by using the compressed air.
