The standard length hanger rod (10) has brackets (13,14), which are provided for attachment to opposite walls (11,12) of a cupboard compartment, where lighting band is provided at lower side of the hanger rod. Independently controllable switches (33) and a power supply unit (20) are switched on or switched off via a switching unit (30) through a manually operable switch (31). The light strip consists of multiple parallel-connected light emitting diodes, which are arranged in the regular intervals along the light strip.
