A strainer (90) is formed by means of a disk part (92) on which a strainer surface is formed and leg parts (94) that extend at a right angle from the outer edge of the disk part (92), and the strainer (90) is attached so as to cover a plug (78) of a suction check valve (70) to form a sub-assembly. Next, the suction check valve (70), which has formed together with a piston and a spring as a sub-assembly, and the strainer (90), are inserted in this order into a cylinder, after which a cylinder cover is attached, thus assembling an electromagnetic pump (20). Thus, the assembly and the positioning of the strainer (90) can easily be accomplished, and the ease with which the electromagnetic pump is assembled can be improved, even when the strainer (90) has a small size.
