What is described is an apparatus for creating a digital version from an analog magnetic tape recording of the video. It includes an input interface for receiving a modulated magnetic tape recording high-frequency signal originating from a magnetic tape recording of a video, an analog-to-digital converter for digitizing the modulated magnetic tape recording high-frequency signal to obtain a digital version thereof, and a digital postprocessing unit for deriving a digital version of the video from the digital version of the modulated magnetic tape recording high-frequency signal.
