The brush holder (10) comprises a carbon brush conductor (2) that is arranged in a receiving space (12) with respect to a receiving space limiting side wall (113). The carbon brush conductor is pushed into an extending direction of the receiving space by a spring (13). A groove (16) is formed in the limiting side wall for accommodating a spring (14). The carbon brush conductor is pressed against the outer surface of the receiving space, by using the spring (14). An independent claim is included for a method for retooling the brush holder.
